Just another crazy day in the college football offseason as Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed for a violation of team rules, reported to be a third failed drug test, as the Heisman finalist DB/returner is off of LSU. Nicknamed the “Honey Badger”, Mathieu had 421 punt return yards and 2 TDs last season, along with 76 total tackles (7.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, 2 INTs, 6 forced fumbles, and four recoveries as a sophomore in 2011. He also returned two fumbles for TDs as LSU made the national championship game a year ago.
Mathieu, if eligible, will probably transfer to an FCS school and declare for the NFL after the 2012 season. He cannot play in FBS competition this year.
